Kathie Diapoulis opened the workshop at 9:30am welcoming everyone and thanking them for attending. She introduced Tim Miller, MSYSA President and Denise Edwards, VYSA Vice President. She also reviewed the agenda with the attendees.

At 3:00pm, everyone returned back to the meeting room and the following remarks were made by the groups:

Red Group
Referees

  • Try to get new sources of referees
  • Parent pre-game instructions
  • Enforce the Code of Conduct
  • Some incentives for referees include pay scale, recognition for job well done
  • Pay referees on field
Future of WAGS

  • Do we want to expand boundaries?
  • U-11 teams have 4 seasons prior to dropping
  • More paid employees
  • Reimburse Bob Dieterle for his staff
  • Seminars regarding injuries
Gold Group
Future of WAGS

  • Look into Field Complexes
  • Team Sportsmanship Liaison (TSL)
Red Group
Future of WAGS

  • Cluster games for U-17 and U-19 at one complex
  • WAGS can match funds for Clubs to help with fields
  • Try not to make games back to back with the same team
  • Reduction gradual for U-11
  • Player development and how to prevent injuries
Green Group
Future of WAGS

  • Implementation of TSL
  • Web site information for injuries and first aid
  • Scale down/Less teams per age group
  • Hold tournament for wait list teams. Best Teams come into the League.
  • Increase staffing
  • Education in coaching
 
Adele Dolanaky Scholarship: Proposed Guidelines

After the groups gave their recommendations regarding the League, Kathie spoke about Jack Beattie and named him the Ambassador to WAGS. Jack was the founder of VIST. He has been an active member in WAGS since 1981.

In closing, Kathie toasted Adele Dolansky, Rael Vodika and Mavis Derflinger stating that without these ladies, we would not be attending this meeting. She also toasted to the future of WAGS.
