League Notes

Officers Report:

R & D Director
Lula reviewed the new FIFA Law regarding sleeveless uniforms. Manufactured sleeveless jerseys are permissible. However no sleeve is to be altered in any fashion.

Guest Speaker
Jeff Corzatt, VYSA Head Registrar, stated that registration went well. Virginia needs two more Registrars. If the Virginia teams have any registration questions, do not call the VYSA office - contact one of the Registrars listed in the manual.

Administrator
Robin reviewed the following with the membership:

Manual Changes:

  • Delete SSA Storm (U-19D2) from the binder
  • Review the Soccer Plex Guidelines
  • Review the Bull Run/Occoquan Guidelines

Team Sportsmanship Liaison:
There is now a space for each TSL to sign on the Referee Report Form. It is required that the TSL signs the form.

Scheduling Requests:
Any team requesting a reschedule for a high school soccer conflict must fax the following:

  • Copy of State Roster with players denoted
  • Copy of HS Roster on HS Letterhead
  • Copy of HS Schedule on HS Letterhead
  • Name and phone number of AD of the school

Rain Outs:
It is the responsibility of the club to call either Robin or Kathie immediately if your fields are closed. Please do not assume NCSL has notified us.

Fields:
Occoquan is now closed on 9/14 and 9/15 due to the lack of rain. If you teams play on that field and your club did not supply Saturday fields, the games will be played away for that weekend.

Once again this season, I am receiving information regarding field changes and closures from NCSL after the NCSL games have been moved, which means the WAGS teams do not get to play on the priority 1-2 fields. I need to hear from the WAGS Reps as soon as possible to avoid this problem.

There were clubs that did not submit Saturday fields, therefore, the teams within the club may not have the same amount of home games as clubs who submitted Saturday fields. In some instances, a team may have 3-4 home games as compared to 4-5 with Saturday fields.

Cancellations and Rescheduling:
If your game is canceled for any reason, the game will be played on the next available date for both teams. If there are no dates available the WAGS office will send out an email asking both teams if they want to play on a weeknight or two games on a Saturday or Sunday. There will be a deadline. If both teams do not contact me with a decision on when the game will be rescheduled, the WAGS office will pick a date, time and location. That decision will be final. There were too many problems last season with teams not agreeing to a reschedule. Also, if one team sends the office a date and the other team does not, the date that the team submitted will be moved.

New Phone Number:
Kathie has a new phone number. It is on line and in the manual.

Coaching Conflicts:
In many cases there have been multiple coaching conflicts in one game. Tried best to avoid as many conflicts as possible but in some cases it was impossible. If both teams submitted a request, the maximum conflicts are two. The majority of the coaches have one. For the teams who are playing at Bull Run, Occoquan or the Soccer Plex, is was impossible to avoid conflicts because once the schedule is complete I may not alter the times. Therefore, coaches with teams playing on those fields may have as many as four or five conflicts for the season.

President's Report

Home Team Responsibilities:
It is imperative that the home team contacts their opponent 72 hours prior to game time. If the away team goes to the wrong field, that may be a forfeit for the home team.

New Region I Deputy Director:
Tim Miller was elected as the new Deputy Director at the USYS Meeting in San Francisco. The new President for MSYSA will be elected during the September meeting.

Scores:
All game scores must be called in to the division coordinator within 2 hours of completion of the match. The only exception would be a game which is completed by 6:00 PM-6:30 PM must be phoned in no later than 7:00 PM.

Calendar Dates:
The dates are on line. Please review carefully. There will be no end of season meeting in November. The trophies will be mailed.

ODP Program:
There is a new ODP program being implemented. This program is affiliated with the Federation/United Soccer League. It is not part of the USYS Program.

The Super Y League is not part of USYS and may not participate in any USYS sanctioned leagues. If selected for Super Y League ODP, they will not quality for any USYS ODP functions.

Leadership Workshop:
There will be a workshop in the winter for all Club Reps. More information will follow.

Secretary
Mike Sybert announced the Maryland Workshop will be held on JANUARY 12 at the Towson Center. The Cup draw will be held at a different location at a time to be determined.

Good of the Game:
Kathie shared with the membership that Adele Dolansky praised MSYSA and all of the Region I volunteers for hosting the best National Tournament she has attended.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm

Respectfully Submitted,

Robin Miller, WAGS League Administrator
