Secretary:  Wants a short meeting with the volunteers to review the criteria for new club applications.

R & D Director:    Lula Bauer reviewed the following:

v      Hearings for excessive penalty point accumulations will begin in a few weeks.

When a team is required to attend an R&D hearing, the club rep should call the teams and review the agenda with them and guide them.  Lula suggests that the club rep attend the hearings with the teams.

v      One of the R&D hearings had to be reheard because Section 701A of the Federation By-Laws was not followed.

v      Notifications will be sent with the repercussions of the hearing from now on.

v      Notifications will be sent out to the teams 10 business days prior to the hearing.

v      Once the hearing is scheduled, it will not be cancelled and rescheduled if the team/coach cannot attend.

Administrator:

v      Division structure forms are now on line.

v      Trophies will be mailed shortly. A notice will be sent to the club reps as to the approximate arrival date.

President’s Report:

U-11 Issues

v     This season was a learning curve for all of us in regards to the U-11 format. Although we received an overwhelming show of support, we do recognize that there are changes that must be made to improve this program. Immediately following this short meeting, we will try to listen to   some of those issues in order to have a better understanding of how to proceed in the future. I do hope that all the club reps present will stay for the U-11 open forum not only to share their input , but to hear what the people directly involved  have to say.

Step In AR’s

v     I have spoken with Ray Greenburg , the president on NCSL regarding a joint effort to implement the SIAR program . This program will insure that we not only have enough AR’s , but also allow  individuals to get a taste of officiating and we may see some of them upgrade.

Referee Bonus

v     NCSL will also be joining WAGS in the referee bonus program beginning  Fall 2005.

Calendar Reminders:

v     January 22 – ACL Prevention

v     January 29 – TSL Workshop

v     February 26 – Positive Coaching Alliance

Ratifying Board Decisions

v     When I moved last fall, there was a problem with my mail being forwarded. On account of that, our corporate status lapsed without our knowledge. Usually this is not a problem, as it is quite common occurrence and you have 5 years to reinstate. Unfortunately, someone incorporated with the name of Washington Area Girls Soccer League, Inc. upon the discovery that we had lapsed. I recommended to the board a name change of Washington Area Girls Soccer Limited for reinstatement purposes only. This name will only appear on such necessary items as Federal documents, contracts and insurance papers. In every other instance, we will remain and trade under the name Washington Area Girls Soccer League. We are asking for membership ratification of this name change , which in accordance with  the  non-stock corporate section of the Code of Virginia was unanimously approved by the WAGS Board of Directors .  Ratification requires only 2/3 of the majority present. I have retained a legal firm to insure that all back doors of this sort are closed for any other vindictive individual or club who tries such a low handed scheme in the future will hit some major roadblocks. Motion was made, second and there was a discussion.  The vote to change the name was passed.

Sportsview TV:  .

Positive Coaching Alliance:  WAGS has renewed our partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance and have set aside February 26th as the date for multiple workshops.  We will have beginning courses for all U-11 and new coaches as well as intermediate courses for those who have completed the first session.

ACL Program:  WAGS has confirmed January 22, 2005 to host an ACL program with the Santa Monica Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Research Program.  We will hold 2 sessions so that we may accommodate all WAGS coaches.

Dr. Dan Freigang:  Dr. Dan will be presenting a Mandatory TSL workshop on January 29th.  More information will follow.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm.

                                                                                    Respectfully Submitted

                                                                                    Robin Miller,

WAGS League Administrator
